Being a frequent traveller, I visited Mexico in 1989 with
just a rucksack and sleeping bag. I would spend the nights
with families, going from one town to another, cooking Italian
cuisine, in return for their hospitality. They cooked for
me their poor dishes: was love at first taste!
In 1994, in Rome, I opened my first restaurant "El Pueblo",
in Torrevecchia; the place had only six tables and we enjoyed
preparing tortillas, in a cosy environment like a house's
sitting room.
After four years on, we were happy with our "friends-customers"
- but our restaurant was always full- we didn't have any space
for new ones !!! An unexpected success, so action had to be
taken.
In 1998 we moved to a bigger place, with ten tables over
2 floors. Having more space we could also prepare a wider
menu. I had a dream: to discover again the Maya and Aztecan
cuisine, but I didn't know how to do it…I needed the old fashioned,
healthy "grandmother cooking". Then Adelaide arrived,
direct from Mexico City. The old Mexican cuisine came alive
again…its taste? You have to try it; that's why we hope you'll
visit us soon.

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the team who
help me in this gastronomical odyssey and, above all, in doing
their best to enable you to spend a lovely night enjoying
our food.
